Hi,
O would like to calibrate the speaker levels of my HT system properly. I know the best way to do so is with a sound meter, and people here claim you can easily get one for 30$ or so...
Well that's in the States. I live in Europe (Spain) and when asked in two or three stores, they want me o pay aroun 100 to 150 bucks! I guess that's because the models they have are better than those people talks about here, but I don't really want to spend 150$ in such a device.
So the question is: doe sanybody know of a specific model I can buy for around 30$, and an online store that will deliver it to Spain?
BTW, if I ever get to put my hands on one of these, what is the right procedure for the calibration?
Help appreciated...
Thanks.

check in the HTF classifieds, i've seen two or three for sale there by members.
the one that is usually recommended is the Radio Shack analog meter, catalog # 33-2050. it's the one that i use and it works very well.

analog Rat shack meter has been discontined. The only one available is the digital one and it's like $80-100.

The analog units are discontinued in Canada and have been for some time (at least 1 year). I got a friend in the US to send me one.

Yes, 90$ thats CDN but they are on sale now.

Ferran,

If you know anyone in the US, have them pick up either of the units in the links provided by Derek.

Ayayay...
I checked the links and RadioShack doesn't seem to deliver abroad the States. And I know of nobody going there. Does anybody know of any other online store that ships internationally?
Thanks...

You could always buy a used one off of eBay or look in the for sale forum.

Click here to search eBay. You should probably ask if they'll ship to Europe before you start bidding though.

You might also want to consider looking for professional music centers in your area. They'll carry guitars, amps, and some do carry Sound Pressure Meters. I wish I had a source for you but you might want to start your search by giving this place a call.

RB Audio Technology
Trafalgar 50 1o 2a

Phone 011-34-93-315-2726

They might be able to direct you to cost effective sources.

Best of luck :)
