What's a correctional value chart? And how's it used? I've never noticed anything using my SPL meter (the cheap RatShack one).

It would be REALLY interesting to see the objective results of the mod, have you tested your SPL Meter along with professional equipment or something?

This page states measuring speakers at 1meter. This is just for a speaker measurement, right? Not for calibration, no?
I should still calibrate my audio level with the SPL in a single location near the listening area, right?
OT:
Is it normal for a rear channel to have a slightly louder signal than the other channel? My Sony 777ES left rear is +.5dB louder than the right. Balance is centered.
