Does anyone know if this version will be on sale in the US? I know there's one overseas that just came out. I would totally buy this movie on Superbit.

PLEASE use a question mark when asking a question. I got a sudden jolt of excitement reading your title thread only to be left with disappointment.

From what little we know, Columbia appears not to be making Superbits for Region 1 anymore and the next version of Spider-Man will be a Deluxe version (ala Men In Black)- but non Superbit.

Columbia's not doing Superbit anymore? That's too bad...where did you hear that?

If they are continuing with the Superbit line and follow MIB's strategy, they'll put out a Deluxe Edition to coincide with the sequel and then a Superbit version for both films shortly after the sequel is released on DVD.

Columbia stinks. I get tired of them and their not putting DTS on their discs the first time around and their fluffy extras. If it's not a jam packed disc of a movie I love from this studio, I will hold out.

I would get a Superbit version if for just the DTS track. I wouldn't get a Deluxe edition though.

I don't get that either. Columbia should've put a DTS version of Spiderman out there. But I guess I'll wait for the other "collector's" edition. As long as it has DTS that would be nice.

    Region 2..lucky guys:

Actually...why don't you pick up the R3 version. It's a HELLUVA lot cheaper. Like $20 cheaper. R3 is smarter.

Which one, R2 or R3, is NTSC?

    To really clarify:

    R2 Japan: NTSC
    R2 Anywhere Else: PAL
    R3 Anywhere: NTSC

Has there been any confirmation of discontinuing Superbit Titles for R1?

No, there has been no offical word. Kris Deering of the Secrets of home theater and hifi has been to columbia's press page and there are no R1 superbit releases scheduled through March.

Hey Craig, do you know where I can order R3 DVDs...? I have bought some R2's from Japan, but they are steep...

    Thanx! D

I bought the Superbit and didn't really "see" the improvements on the video side...on 106" screen. The DTS sound rocked, but I didn't do a direct A/B comparison with the DD 5.1 soundtrack (which I'll admit-I haven't heard in a while).

    Ron

PS: The PQ is not top notch vs some of the other Columbia titles

    Dave,

Also check out yesasia.com. They have free shipping if you combine with some other movies. Spiderman is about $22 if I recall correctly.
