I just acquired a Spider-Man teaser poster, the one that was recalled. It's got the World Trade Center reflected in Spidey's eyes. Is there any way I can find out of it's authentic? I didn't pay too much for it, so I won't be dissapointed if it turns out to be fake. It's double-sided and 27x40.

Did you buy it on ebay?
    Is it double sided ?
Is it made of plastic or paper?
Does it have a rating on it? R or pg-13?

No, I didn't buy it on ebay. It's double sided, and 27x40. It's made of paper, I think. It's very heavy paper and is very slick, but I'm pretty sure it's not plastic. It's a pretty simmilar paperstock compared to the rest of the double-sided posters I have. It doesn't have a rating on it. At the bottom of the poster, it says 3 May 2002. The fine print on the lower right has the Marvel logo and says

Motion Picture (C) 2001 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc.
    Spider-Man Character (R) & (C) 2001 Marvel Characters, Inc. All Rights Reserved

    The right corner says:

sony.com/spider-man and then has the Columbia Pictures logo.

Underneath the logo is the following text:

    (C) 2001 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved

    Distributed though Sony Pictures Releasing
In Canada: Distributed through Columbia Tri-Star Films of Canada

That's about all the fine print that I can find. Thanks for your help!

    It sounds real..
Can you get me one !

    Look for these three things.
    1. Backside : look at spidermans eye is it silver or more gold?
2.Front look at spidermans right eye is there a hair in the picture?
    3. The marvel logo is it bright red or does it seem dull reddish brown?
4.You say no rating but does it say this film has not been rated yet?

    1. The eyes are more gold than silver, on both the front and back.
    2. Not really, no.
    3. It's the same reddish brown as the rest of the lettering. Also, the actual "Marvel" letters aren't black, but a darker reddish brown.
    4. Nope, nothing about rating. What I said above is all of the text on the poster.

Thanks for all of your help! I'll PM you with information on where I got it.

    Sorry

    I'm 95% sure its a FAKE !

I do however think you should find a dealer in your area to look at it to make sure. Look on ebay under posters and see if there happens to be a dealer near you or go to
http://www.posterprice.com/almanac.asp. Maybe they can help you. They have a list of dealers hopefully you can find one near you

    Good Luck!

    Tony D,

My guess is that if you bought it at www.allposters.com
    It could be a fake

    The Sizes are:
    original is 39 3/4 x 26 3/4 ish.
    reprint is 39 11/16 x 26 7/16.

See size does make a diffrenc....LOL

Now look at the questions I asked Don and compare. If you have a single sided let me try to help you.

    Thanks
    Ed

Out of curiosity, what makes it a fake? I can take pictures, if you need me to.

Wow, great site! The images there really help. Too bad it's a fake, but it's still a cool poster. Not too upset for what I paid for it.

    I don't mind having a reprint of a poster.
As long as it's hanging up and looks nice that's all I care about.

If anyone is interested, I got it from www.movieposters.net. I was told that it was an origional, despite being listed as a reprint.Steve emailed me, telling me that they had to list it as a reprint so that they wouldn't be sued by Sony.

Ah well. Still, $18 isn't bad. It's a great looking poster.

well, they would have to list it as reprint because it is a reprint. right?

who told you it was origional?
the movieposters.net site or someone else?

I emailed the sales department of movieposters.net, and a man named Steve replied. He told me that it was an origional, but needed to be listed as a reprint for legal reasons. I was under the impression that the reprints didn't have the WTC in Spidey's eyes. I never thought that they'd be selling a knock-off.

Again, I'm not upset for $18. It's still a pretty cool looking poster. It just wasn't the big find that I thought it was.
