That introductory phrase may just be the subtle hint to customers that a Superbit version will probably be following within a short period after the initial release.

Sony if you want my money, then DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

Here is the real non-edited version of the article from :

Well as you can see, when they said "introductory", it didn't mean THERE WILL BE MORE THAN ONE VERSION, it means the first edition, unlike Black Hawk Down and Ali, will be LOADED. ;)

I agree that the term "introductory" seems a little suspicious. But this looks like a nice package. I'm going to wait for the DVD reviews on the audio/video to see whether I puchase this one or wait for the inevitable Superbit version.

Dan

why release it on november 12... and compete with lord of the rings:SE... that is a stupid reason... better to release it by self.

I'll buy the 2 disc version and be done with it. Unless they were to release another version that gives me the ability to BE spider-man, the first release is good enough for me.

It certainly looks nice, and I hope thats what it looks like, but we're talking about Columbia here.
The cover art is probably going to be a head shot of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst stoned, with their ears chopped off, and lightning bolts coming out of their heads. :)

While I'd agree a Superbit Deluxe will see the light of day eventually, sound formats of a theatrical release of a film have NOTHING to do with the film being designated those same audio formats in home video.

If you stick to the logic of "it carried DTS theatrically, so the DVD will" then a good 85% of DVDs would have to carry DTS since the majority of theatrical releases carry a DTS track. A lot of Paramount movies carry a DTS track for theatrical release, but you dont see any of their DVDs with such a track if you follow me.
