This dark comedy stars Jim Carrey (Liar Liar, The Mask) as a lonely and disturbed cable installer looking for a new friend in and unsuspecting bachelor played by Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off). Unsettling consequences ensue when Broderick’s character rejects the cable guy’s forced friendship.

Directed by Ben Stiller (Zoolander) and produced by Judd Apatow (Superbad), The Cable Guy boasts a roster of comedic talent that includes appearances by Jack Black (School of Rock, Year One), Leslie Mann (Knocked Up), Janeane Garofalo (Reality Bites), Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) and Andy Dick (Old School).

Special features on The Cable Guy Blu-ray Disc include never-before-released footage from the archives of Ben Stiller and Judd Apatow, including more than 20 minutes of deleted scenes, an all-new commentary with Carrey, Stiller and Apatow, a gag reel, rehearsal footage, TV specials from HBO and Comedy Central, audition and camera test footage, and a music video.

    The Cable Guy Synopsis:
Jim Carrey is Chip Douglas, cable installer. Raised on television sitcoms, he wants life to look just like My Three Sons. And when he meets single guy Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), he sees his chance for some serious male bonding. But Chip's idea of friendship - which includes physical assault, a game of 'Porno Password' and a medieval joust - may be hazardous to Steven's health. In Chip's own immortal words, "I can be your best friend... or your worst enemy." The film is directed by Ben Stiller (Reality Bites).

Cool! I have been waiting for this and I'm very pleased to see that extras have been included.

This is a very underrated dark comedy and one of Carrey's best performances. It is surprising to see this one come out ahead of Sony's other catalog titles.

I agree....this is a very underrated film. I consider it one of my favourite Jim Carrey films....at least top 3. I never did buy the DVD but I will definitely get this.

I agree this film got an undeserved bad rap when it was released (and few critics liked it, most notably Gene Siskel), and I'm glad to see it coming. I had the laserdisc, it rotted (typical of Columbia TriStar LDs), and never bought the DVD; it was one of those early WS/P&S flipper discs that became a P&S only reissue. I can't believe it's been 15 years since this film's release.
