I know. It's high, but I think it's either testing the waters or a typo. I'll bet that the actual price on release day will be in-line with the others.$65.99 is the actual MSRP.
It makes me happy that I have the 2020 Columbia Classics Collection.I know. It's high, but I think it's either testing the waters or a typo. I'll bet that the actual price on release day will be in-line with the others.
AI is controlling the pricing algorithms now, it's definitely not a "typo." Anyway, $65 retail this early on IS NOT good news. Interestingly Stripes has not also gone up - yet.I know. Even if that's the case, and I'm not saying it is, I'll just point out that AI is very, very far from infallible...AI is controlling the pricing algorithms now, it's definitely not a "typo."
It's $43 right now on Amazon..The Deadpool/Wolverine steelbook never decreased in price. It stayed at $65.
This is true, but Deadpool vs Wolverine was a HUGE tentpole superhero film and the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. It had a lot of momentum. Comparing it to Ghandi is apples and oranges IMO.The Deadpool/Wolverine steelbook never decreased in price. It stayed at $65.
That's not what I'm seeing. There are various editions (domestic and foreign) of the 2 steelbooks. They range in price from $65.58 to $84.99. Both of them are sold together for $169.99. Several listings of the steelbook are sold out. It's $43 right now on Amazon..

Yes, you can get the film cheaper, but not the steelbook. That was the point.
Or....they could sell out. Inside-Out 2 4K UHD never dropped in price. Now available from resellers on Amazon for a cool $80 (or from the UK for the same retail price as on release date, $45). Inglourious Basterds 4K UHD is still going for $59.95. Granted, Ghandi may not have the "must-have appeal" that Lawrence or Inside-Out 2 had, but I remember plenty of people stroking their chins and stating cooly that they were not going to pay "outrageous" prices for those and were going to wait for "sale prices". Didn't happen. Times are changing. It may be a high price, but it WILL drop. Patience.
Anything is possible. You can always preorder it at the current high price and hope that it drops to an acceptable level by release date when Amazon's preorder guarantee kicks in. If it doesn't, you have 30 days from the date it's delivered to return it for a refund. That may not work too well for you since you're in Europe, but for U.S. buyers it's an option. Also, the Inglorious Basterds 4K Limited Edition may be priced at $60, but the previous 4K release is still readily available for under $20. Ghandi is more of an exclusive.Or....they could sell out. I'm fortunate, like our moderator Robert, in that I bought the Columbia Classics Vol 1 day one. So I don't need another Gandhi - steelbook, or not! I bought the Taxi Driver 4K UHD steelbook though, as the version in Vol 2 had the erroneous duplicated shot - corrected in the steelbook version. And - quel surprise! - the Taxi Driver steelbook is retailing for $41.39 from Amazon today ....I paid $33 for it last summer.Anything is possible. I'm glad I have the Columbia Classics Vol. 1 release too, as well as the rest of them. One thing is for sure - with small runs of limited edition steelbooks and other exclusive releases, prices will stay high as long as demand outstrips supply. If that isn't the case, as I think the situation may well end up being with some of these catalog titles, prices will drop if there's remaining stock that doesn't sell. All we can do is buckle-up and see what happens.I'm fortunate, like our moderator Robert, in that I bought the Columbia Classics Vol 1 day one. So I don't need another Gandhi - steelbook, or not! I didn't know there was an error on Taxi Driver. Is it really bothersome and do you have a timestamp?I'm fortunate, like our moderator Robert, in that I bought the Columbia Classics Vol 1 day one. I wasn't aware either and would like to know.I didn't know there was an error on Taxi Driver. Is it really bothersome and do you have a timestamp?
I bite the bullet and pay the extra money for a box when it's a movie that I really want (Inside Out 2, Inglourious Basterds, The Warriors, etc.) but with others, I either wait and get a better price (Fright Night, the Argento Arrow titles) or I'll just miss out entirely (none... yet).Or....they could sell out. It's the scene where he is getting the gun from Easy AndyI didn't know there was an error on Taxi Driver. Is it really bothersome and do you have a timestamp?
It's not bothersome at all. During the scene when Easy Andy is selling Travis the guns there is a duplicate shot used when Andy is telling Travis that they use the Magnum in Africa for killing elephants. The shot is duplicated when Andy tells Travis "The .44 is too big for practical purposes" on the 4K UHD in the Columbia Classics Vol 2 set. It's only a few seconds and not really worth updating the disc just for this. Sony have not made any exchange program available either. I wanted the stand-alone steelbook for my section with Scorsese films in my library!I didn't know there was an error on Taxi Driver. Is it really bothersome and do you have a timestamp?
