Finally. My earlier attempt to get that Amazon-exclusive Steelbook didn't work out.

Gotta love Amazon's search enshittification, though: I searched "gandhi steelbook" and it listed Venom: The Last Dance. Thanks, Amazon.
On Amazon, an exact match to a search is often not the first result returned. Exact matches may be 10 or 15 spots down the list, if they're even on the first page. And Region 1 Blus that I know are in print are not shown for some films, only Region 2 editions.

$49 is just ridiculous. I think people should boycott and refuse to buy this until they bring prices down. By the time they release Vol. 6 titles on 4k they will be more expensive than the Columbia Classics Boxsets themselves.

At long last! I can't wait to see how they wrap up the Venom saga with this installment, given Amazon's astute recommendation earlier showing literally one choice for "gandhi steelbook." Apparently there is some depiction of "spinning" in this movie, which makes sense given Spider-Man.

A $49 MSRP is not an unfair price for 2 4k UHD discs, a 2k Blu and a features disc, all wrapped in a Steelbook.

They're matching the 4K/UHD pricing of Arrow and Criterion.
And Vinegar Syndrome, Synapse, Second Sight and various other boutique labels. If people haven't realised by now that collecting physical media is an expensive hobby, they need to find an alternative pastime. Or stick to purchasing digital downloads. It's a niche collector's market and the companies are not doing it for charity.

As I stated in another thread, the physical media market is becoming even more niche which means higher pricing. Even Kino has increased their MSRP on their 4K/UHD and Blu-ray releases.

Fifty dollars does seem like a lot, especially for a catalog title. Maybe that will decrease, as Amazon orders sometimes do. But consider Lionsgate Limited, which is producing 4k/blu-ray steelbooks in limited editions, and those are $40. Their Apocalypse Now is jam-packed, with three versions of the films, loads of extras (including Hearts of Darkness) and both UHD and BD. I get the higher price tag for these things, but the more expensive they make it, the fewer things most of us can buy.

Amazon is known for being slow to reducing the MSRP down to the eventual purchasing price. Furthermore, Amazon has been accused of price gouging WA titles charging more than the MSRP.

I'm well aware that it's not charity so I don't need to find an alternative pass time but since it isn't a charity, that just raises the question of why drive the price higher by adding space taking booklets, mini-reproductions and larger cases? Unless that crap is so cheap that the $10 or $20 extra is basically a scam to make more money. Personally, I'd rather just get charged the extra money and chalk it up to licensing costs than pay extra for a box to take up more space.

I mean Sliver is not a good movie and adding a box and booklet isn't going to make it a good movie.
