    SYNOPSIS

    CHARLIE’S ANGELS (2000)
Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu star as the captivating crime-fighting trio who are masters of disguise, espionage and martial arts. When a devious mastermind embroils them in a plot to destroy individual privacy, the Angels, aided by their loyal sidekick Bosley (Bill Murray), set out to bring down the bad guys. But when a terrible secret is revealed, it makes the Angels targets for assassination.

    CHARLIE’S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE
The "Angels", three investigative agents (Barrymore, Diaz and Liu) who work for the Charles Townsend Detective Agency, return for another high-octane series of adventures as they investigate the theft of a database of witness protection profiles, after five of the people on the list are murdered. They're aided by a new Bosley (Bernie Mac), in an adventure which pits them against a "fallen angel" (Moore), their old nemesis, the Thin Man (Glover), and others.

I can't believe that Full Throttle was never released in the US on Blu-ray prior to this.

So why do they think the first movie is popular enough to release on 4K but not the sequel? That doesn't make sense.

Agreed. Both films should be on UHd!!!

I’ll probably try and pick up both films.

I looked at box office totals and was surprised to see how close they were:

    "CA" - $125m US, $264m WW
    "CA: FT" - $100m US, $259m WW

"CA:FT" was about 33% more expensive, though, and it felt like more of a "failure". The first flick made a profit, but the 2nd didn't.

Sony didn't think "CA:FT" even merited a BD release until now, so it's not a surprise they're ignoring it for 4K...

They probably didn't have a 4K master ready to go for the second one.

    Interesting.
It’s a bit hard to believe that full throttle hasn’t been released on blu ray at all.

Strange that both titles aren’t going to have the UHd :treatment

Perhaps, but I think it's more a lower level of interest.

As I noted earlier, both made about the same amount of money, but I think the first one enjoys a superior reputation.

Which it deserves, as it's the superior film. Not that the 1st one is great, but it's definitely better than the sequel!

The first one would have needed more work, as it was finished on film. The second had a 2K DI, so it would have been an upscale with an HDR pass.

My recollection of Full Throttle was that onscreen text in the film for locations was typed out on screen with an accompanying sound effect, but the DVD used player generated subtitles that just appeared but the typing sound effect remained.
