...to pay a little attention to the sequel S2:CRUISE CONTROL?As the latter is a boxoffice flop, that doesn't deserve special treatment as its prequel do?
I do hope that they will put the two together as a special edition boxset, with dual digi-surround for both...

Speed 2 was considered a bomb. Sales and reacton to the film were horrendus. No one cares about this title.

Err, not to knock John's opinion, but somehow I doubt that it will get the same 5-star treatment as the first one is up for. [IMG]

Sorry John and Yang, That comment shouldve said "few care about the title". Didnt mean any offense to anyone who was a fan. Was making a general statement.

I also enjoyed Speed 2, although not as much as the first, but I did enjoy it. I don't ask for a five-star treatment to Speed 2, but I would like a few features, and a new anamorphic transfer...

Thats what i have in mind, when i say special treatment,i don't 100% mean that it will have to be FIVE STAR badged.Which the same thing had happened to DIE HARD 2 & 3.

Matthew, you didn't offend me, but I can see how you might have thought you did, well, with my post in italics and all.
And yes, even I, being a fan of the film, am not so blind as to expect a 5 star job on this. A new anamorphic transfer, and a good DD and DTS track will suffice.

I believe that the reissues of Speed and Speed 2 will receive the same treatment that The French Connection/French Connection II received this year. A Five Star release of Speed, a Special Edition of Speed 2, and a box that contains both films.

I could never watch Speed 2 again. The whole ending was bloated and didn't have 1/100 the intensity of the first movie.

SPEED 1: in a bus that couldn't go slower than 50mph(?) through city streets and highways = EXCITING! [IMG]
SPEED 2: on a boat minus Keanu Reeves (smart move by Reeves) that was in the open sea with a cheesy bad guy...nuff' said. [IMG]
Damn, Jon...it seems I keep busting your balls lately! [IMG]

Jerry, it's a guilty pleasure title for me. Wilem Defoe is just so inept and stupid as a villian, he couldn't intimidate an old lady, and yes, the premise is less than thrilling, Sandra Bullock is well, UUUGGGHHH! But I like the movies spirit, and that one sequence alone is worth it for me.
    Consider my balls intact! [IMG]

    John,
He's only busting your balls because I'm not around to tout the superiority of DTS [IMG]
Anyway, I'd buy a French Connection type set with the first Speed disc being the 2 disc 5 star and the other being a "Enhanced Widescreen" version.
Then again Peter has probably already thought of this.

I will buy a Speed 2 special edition if they put the disc in a special case shaped like an A/B switch for sharing printers and put all capital vinyl lettering on it reading "FIBER OPTIC CONVERTER". [IMG]
That's what I remember most about the movie.

I loved Speed. Since I sold my bare bones old version some time ago, I will replace it with this SE version. I hope it will have 5.1 sound (with dedicated LFE channel) this time. The lower end punch was really missing from this soundtrack.

Count me in for both films. Speed was great! While Speed 2 wasn't a great film, it's still fun to watch now and then.

Sometimes I get in the mood for a gooey, cheese-filled, mindless action flick and nothing else will satisfy. I can't wait for Speed, but I will never watch Speed 2 again. I find it completely un-watchable. To those who love it, more power to you! Just promise not to make fun of me for watching Kickboxer a couple of times a year! [IMG]
