How in the hell do you win the Ford GT40????
I even looked at a very comprehesive list put together over at www.avault.com on how to either win or unlock every car. EXCEPT the damn GT40.
...figures...
Any of you guys have this car? What race did you win? I'm going to take a guess and say it's one of the endurance tracks.

You can win the GT40 Race car from the Grand Turismo World Championship Series in the Professional League, and the Ford GT40 from the Gran Turismo All-Stars Series in the Amateur League. :)

Granted, the Ford GT40 is listed as the prize car in those two events, my copy (and logically yours) was not very willing to give it up. I saved my game prior to the last race in the series so I could (sorta) dictate my prize car. The law of statistics would seem to imply that (since car distribution is random) that one of the first four times I attempted it would yield the GT40. I spend four (thats right FOUR!!!) hours before the @%$#@!* thing would give me the GT40. I'm happy I did tough, it is one of my favorite cars. I have both the street version as well as the Race Car version. Keep plugging at it and you will get it!!!!

Yeah, I remember trying to get Nissan R390 for about an hour and a half before giving up, the next day I gave it another try, and I got it the second time. I think Polyphony Digital did that on purpose to mess with our minds. :)

If you are pretty good at timing you can wait until the car you want is highlighted and hit X. I have gotten pretty good at getting the car I want. Usually on the first or second try.
Car choice is random if you let the computer do it for you.
