Hello, I just have a simple question here. I've just bought an HDTV and I have a pair of speakers I tried to hook up with an 1/8" plug. the same kind that goes into my computer, and it dosen't fit. the only place it fits dosent make sense because its a PC INPUT.

There is a slot for a digital audio output but I don't have that connector. Why wouldn't the speakers just plug into the red/white audio out plugs on the tv? I've tried and they don't fit.

Are there any adapters I can find for this, or any suggestions?

Thanks.

I hooked up some small PC speakers to my small LCD TV, I used the headphone jack, its a 1/8 in jack.

The inputs you're trying to use, take the kind of connectors that's on this cable:

They are RCA connectors. You can get some at Radio Shack.

Ohhhh okay, I was wondering if they made an adapter. Well that's cool. So I hook the 1/8" plug from my computer speakers into the one end, and then where it splits I just hook that into L/R audio outputs on the tv itself right?

What is the technical name of the connector? I'm sorry as you can tell I'm not exactly electronically savy at this point.

And to answer to the previous post, i DID look for a headphone jack but my tv didnt have one. Oh well.

Thanks everyone you've been a big help!

No, you want the one in the link from my post, not the RCA Y-adapter pictured which has the wrong end on one side. It's two male RCA -> stereo mini-jack plug (male, 3.5mm / 1/8"), not RCA female to RCA male like the one Ed posted.

I wasn't saying you needed that cable. I posted it to show the RCA connectors that use the inputs you were trying to plug into..............
