speaker with underpower amp (1 Viewer)

How do you know when your fronts are being driven by an underpower amp?Will the speakers produce any unusual sound?My current reciever is the STR-DB1070 and I am very concered about it producing much lower watts than the claimed 100X6 wpc.

The DB is better off amp wise than the DE series, so you are probably at or close to the rating. If you are running bookshelf speakers set to small with a sub, you should be fine.

If you turn it up, you will likely reach a point at which you hear distorion - you will know it when you hear it. Typically first in the mid to lower frequencies, as the amp runs out of oomph, since the largest drivers require more power.
