Does speaker wire have a life? Mine is 4 year old monster high res xp and I'm doing some changes. Good time to replace wire or a waste of money?

If the insulation has cracks, sure. If the ends of the wire look degraded (oxidized or whatever) simply cut an inch or two off and remake your connections. I mean, are you gonna replace your home wiring after half a dozen years?

You will experiance some oxidation at the connection points but if you trim those down it should be just as new.

I'm no expert but this is my understanding. I've never heard of speaker wire "going bad".
