    Hi,
Should the length of the speakerwire to the surround speakers be equal? I need about 35' for one side and 15' for the other. Wondering if the mismatched length would cause any problems?

    Thanks,
    BrianGC

I've read that the wire should be similar length. But I doubt it's that important. If you can't tell....then what else matters?

i would say yes for the mains and the center speakers but the surrounds shouldn't matter that much.

I don't remember where I read it but when I was setting up my Def Tech's I read to make them the same. I run my mains and rear effects the same length to the inch....(I get bored)

Well, I think the 2 main attributes involved are signal delay and resistance. You will not perceive the difference in the time it takes for the signal to reach each speaker based on such a short difference in cable length, and I don't believe there would be a perceivable difference in the signal strength (I assume signal strength is what resistance would impact, due to differences in the current delivered). Make sure they're both the same gauge, and a proper gauge as mentioned above. You may have a more practical situation that governs the length of cable needed for each speaker, such as the possibility that the speakers or the receiver/amp might be moved to another position.
