Speaker Wire Issue (1 Viewer)

I've just begun my HT room and I've run into a snag when it comes to the terminals for the speaker wire at the component end of the room.

I've searched the forums and found a few things, but I don't they'll work for me. I went to Radio Shack today and looked at what they have and unless they didn't have anything except an 4-speaker gold connector. That would be fine if I was just running 5.1, however, I have wired for Dolby 9.1 even though I don't yet have it.

Here are some pictures and maybe you guys/gals can toss me some ideas.

ahh yes my exact problem. I endded up using 2 4port Niles faceplates, in a four gang box at the rack. I am able to run my 5.1 and second zone from those two connectors.

I was in the middle of fixing my first response, when you replied already.

You can get multi-gang faceplates in the Decora style, that will work with Niles-type jacks.

Jim,

You wouldn't happen to have pictures of you're faceplates would you? I have the multi-gang faceplate already. It's finding the right connectors to attach the wire to.

I need 9 pairs. I haven't found anything that meets those needs. I think I'll have to pick up 2-8's and 1-4 to meet my need.

Typically you can find it at any site that has a 7 or 9.1 unit available. Just look in the manual.

I will take pictures tomorrow, but I just use a standard faceplate over the niles decora style speaker plates.

Forget 9.1...I want 7.9!!! 9 subs would be great...

but seriously...how many channels are necessary? I can understand 7 but 9? Where does the 9 go..does the front stage get an additional 2 spkrs? Wouldn't that cause some bad imaging? If not the front, then you have 6 rear speakers? Isn't that overkill? Jeez...

9.1 is like the Ford Excursion of HT.
