What is the best type of connection for speaker wire to the receiver? Bannana plugs, pins, or bare wire? I use bare wire because I've heard it gives the best conduction, but almost everyone I know uses a connector of some kind.

Any opinions?

I think whatever works for you best. (That's not a real answer I know.)

I use bananas because I'm always moving stuff around. I believe in terms of real contact and minimal oxidation a spade is best, with a good solder joint to the wire.

A lot of expensive cables use bananas at the amp end and spades at the speaker. Stereophile recommends spades, for whatever it is worth.

one issue to consider when using bare wires.....be sure that there isn't a stray strand that accidentally crosses to the other lead....you can easily damage your amp or at least blow a fuse
