I am starting to think about upgrading my reciever and if I do it will probably be at least 6.1.
This means I will also have to add speaker(s).
I am currently using a set of monopole's for the rears and want to continue using them.Would it be better to place those in the rear and a pair of bi poles on the side or bipoles in the rear and my current speakers on the side?

I would tend to think the bipoles on the side with direct radiators in the rear although, I recently moved to 6.1/7.1 setup and have direct radiators about 1' behind me facing the center of the room and 2 center rears at the back with about 4' of space between them. This setup sounds great!
