would I have a problem mounting speakers on the wall, they would sit about 6 inches behind the tv and the center speaker. I realize this doesn't match dolbys setup but would

    it be noticeable?

Depends on how well they image and project. I wouldn't be too worried about the difference in depth; the height of the front three soundstage is usually more important. How high is your center? Try to keep the front L-R within a two foot band or so of the center...closer is better.

the center sits atop a 36" tv. The speakers are psb alphas and don't seem to be shielded so center would be about 2-3ft from the speakers
