I bought a new house that was prewired for surround in the TV room.The question is that all the speakers were wired to be in the ceiling,front L,R,center,surround L,R.Wouldn't you want the front and center facing you? Should I put the front and center in the media niche facing me and surround in the ceiling above me.

I'm working on this exact situation with an acquaintence of mine, and I recommended rerouting the wires to put the speakers on the walls ideally. My recommendation was to put the mains on stands on either side of the TV, but he would like them on the wall, and due to a fireplace and sliding glass door, that will also be the easiest solution.

Surrounds in the ceiling will be OK, but then it will be very important to calibrate the levels so they do not become too distracting.
