what is the optimal placement of a 5.1 speaker system. I know that the rear speakers should be on opposite walls facing each other slightly behind and higher than the seating area but what about the front sats. Should they be high or low?

They should be roughly ear-level, and not more than 2' higher or lower than the center channel for optimal imaging.

More specifically, I like it when the front speakers' tweeters are at ear level.

I agree. Do you think this fella has any leeway with placement?
