Has anyone here seen the speaker pins that come with Acoustic Research speaker wire. The wire is screwed into them, and they are pins (narrower than banana, and no spring action) that... seems to me... would be odd to use them in the holes where speaker wire normally goes... seems less contact than the bare wire to me.

Just about any connection method is going to have less contact area than bare wire screwed in. Banana plugs and the ilk are primarily for convenience. So, I suspect you are right about the pin going through the speaker-wire hole, some people's terminals don't have banana jacks, but just about everyone can take one of those pins, even those cheap tab things that are only on the cheapest of the cheap speakers.

Randy, the "pins" are used for "spring clip" connections and cannot or should NOT be used with binding post connections.
