Eventhough I have set the distances on the reciever, do I still need to set them on the DVD player aswell? Or does it the reciever just cancel out those settings?

If you set them both, then you will have double the delay. I would just use the ones on the receiver.

Yes, as long as the distance to all speakers is the same, your DVD player will not introduce any delay.

Usually the DVD player only affects the speaker settings for the 5.1 analog outputs. If you are using a digital (optical or coax) connection, the DVD player passes the raw digital data, with the possible exception of turning the DD "night mode" byte on/off.

    Chris,

If you're using the receiver to decode the DD or DTS signal, you're not using the decoder logic of the DVD-player. The sound signal goes undecoded to the receiver, so no distances are changed yet before it is decoded there. Only the setting on your receiver matters.

    Hope this helps.

Ah! Jeff just said the same!

Sorry, Jeff (and Chris), parallel input. [IMG]
