Hey Everyone,
What is your current (or all time) fave audio CD to show off your woofs and tweets? Genre/Style not important...:)

I ask them what kind of music they like, and see if I have anything in my collection that they're familiar with. Most demos I've done with music I've liked haven't gone as intended, my friends lose interest and start looking around the room or talking. If they're listening to something they've heard before, that usually has a greater impact on them.

I have about 30 audiophile songs on a playlist that I let my friends audition.

They range from:

Bass outlaws, brass monkey, bjork, enya,
Diana Krall, Jewel, Celine,
Weezer, offspring, Blink 182
fantasia 2000
big bad voodoo daddy, brian setzer
boxcar racer
Eminem, Dre, various techno and trance
Final Fantasy X sound track
Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton
Shania Twain, Dixie chicks
Shakira, no doubt, pink, Nelly, britney, and Lagwagon.

Then I show them THX intro of star wars TPM, city invasion and pod race scene. Matrix, Titan AE, moulin rouge, black hawk down thunder and rpg, and then I demo bass tone tests and show them a chart I made for the response in their seating position. I sorta want to get Toystory2 and haunting to see how those would add to a bass demo.

The Haunting DTS is one of the most violent bass demos that I have. If you can, pick up the Bass Mekanik Cd V5.0 from Parts express. The songs are instrumentals with heavy bass and the bass tones especially tracks #18 & 19 are ones to make your guests sick if you have a sub that's up to it.

Keep Banging!!

Peter Gabriel, Santana, Madonna "Like a prayer", various Jazz instrumentals.

Some Kylie Minogue just for the sheer jam factor.

I've done my demo for my uncle, aunt, 3 friends, dad, mom, sister, and for myself a few times :)
I still havn't gotten tired of them.
For some reason home theater doesn't appeal to my grandparents or my dogs. Maybe they both don't like loud noises. hehe

try a cd called 'time warp' - it's all sci fi soundtrack stuff and is a digital recording. it will test your system.

My brother has a 24-bit digitally remastered gold CD of the album TOTO IV. If I want to impress anyone (myself included), I'll pop the song "Rosanna" in and watch the jaws hit the floor.

Edward scissorhands soundtrack. Sure, it's mastered on analog tape, but the hiss is only prevalent on 1 or 2 songs. Great music.

Gary, Toy Story 2 and Hauting is a must!!! Run to your local Wal-mart and pick them up. Trust us TS2 is awesome from the Monster's Inc. trailer to the intro from ts2!!! And the Haunting DD is awesome, "coming mother"!!!

Actually you want the DTS version of The Haunting.

One of my favorites is the AC/DC "Stiff Upper Lip" DVD in DTS. Audio/video is VERY good.

True!! As I said earlier, The Haunting DTS is one of the most violent Bass demonstrations I've heard on a DVD.

Now the Bass Mekanik Cd V5.0 is one hell of a disk and tracks #18 & 19 are real wall flexing tracks.

As far as music goes, a lot of country has solid bass. Also, Steely Dan, Ricky Lee Jones, and Thin Lizzy are solid mid to deep bass. One of my favorites though is Queen's "Body Language". Finally, the Simpsons (yes, Bart, Homer and the rest of the family) CD has awesome bass on almost evey track.
