    Hi All,

I wanted to find out if it would help/hurt/be a waste of time to tin the end of my speaker wire. I will be making all connections to either banana clips to the reciever or spades to the speakers. I am thinking this way there is no exposed wire to oxidise.

Thanks for the help and any reponses.

Well... some high-end wire-building sites say to never solder your wires. In truth, you are not likely to hear any difference for HT. You might hear a difference if you have highly-accurate music speakers.

I use banana plugs and every two years or so I cut off the ends of exposed speaker wire, strip and re-connect. I do this as part of an annual "HT cleaning".

Since you are not connecting wires in a box that should not be touched for 10 years, I dont think solder is called for.

Sounds good. I won't bother with it then. Thanks again for the fast reply.
