Could someone explain the best procedure for calibrating 5.1 speaker setup. Also what role reference volume level plays in calibration. I saw this as part of the Primer but I can't get the page to load, it simply redirects me to the home theater forum home page. Also, I have a sound level meter and Video Essentials disc. Should one use the test tones on the disc or internal receiver tones.

    Thanks.

The receiver's test tones are not always accurate. If you turn up your receiver to provide 85db tones from the VE disc then you are setting up your reference level. Turn up the receiver to the same level and watch the movie. It will probably be too loud. That's why you see a lot of people saying they listen at 10db or 15db below reference.

VE will give you step by step instructions on setting up everything.
