Speaker and Sub suggestions (1 Viewer)

What is a decent speaker/sub/receiver setup for around $1500??? I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what's good in this range. I keep finding myself drifting to higher end items

I just noticed a package with a receiver for $1250 http://forum.av123.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1097, but they won't tell you the model unless you contact them. Could be a very good deal! Or spend the rest($550) on a decent Yamaha/Denon/Pioneer/Onkyo receiver. Or don't get the sub in the package and get the cheapest($300) Hsu sub(STF-2) to go with it. Haven't heard them myself, but looks like a winner. My brother is probably gonna order it for his new place when it's built.
