Speake and subwoofer input question (1 Viewer)

I have Infinity IL-60 for the fronts and Infinity IL-120s for the sub. The front speakers have separate input options for the sub( the built in sub) but I have selected the speaker option on these. Also on the sub I bring the L and R wires from the amp and then to the speakers. Is this good or I go with the subwoofer out option form the receiver and then put a Y connector to split the signal for the sub. somebody told me that if I separately wire the IL-60s and select the sub option the performance is better?

I tried to find manuals for the IL-60 and -120 on Infinity’s web site, to get a better idea of what you’re talking about, but they don’t have a listing for those model numbers.

That said, if you have been previously running speaker wires to the sub, then speaker wires from the sub to the main L/R, that’s not the best way to do things. It would indeed be better to simply run the speaker wires directly to the main L/R, and send a separate line-level signal to the sub.

Thanks for the reply. These manuals are I think available at harman website. Each of the speaker has a 12" powered sub. It also has option to wire it the conventional way(from amp to L and R, then select "speaker" option at the back of the speaker OR bring the subwoofer input from the receiver and then select "sub" option. The manual says both are fine.
Now to the main subwoofer(Il-120). According to you I should not be bringing wires from the amp to the subwoofer and then to the front speakers? Is that correct? Instead I should feed it with the "sub out" from the HK.
Is there a way to split the sub signal from the receiver into three and then feed all three devices with that?

As noted above, you don’t need to send a line-level signal for the two IL-60s. The subs in those can get their signal directly from the speaker feed. Just send an RCA cable from the receiver’s sub output to the 120’s input and you’ll be good to go.
