Yeah I was gonna say, they had better make it snappy. Mel seems as sharp and vital as ever, but the clock is certainly ticking.
Like a couple of others, I never felt Spaceballs was overly funny. The Tim Russ "combing the desert" line was really the only time I laughed when I saw it first run. Star Wars spoofs were well past their freshness dates even then, so it felt a little late.
I am one of those old dudes who feels Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and High Anxiety are a trilogy of comedies that just cannot be topped even by Brooks himself. But bless him, Mel Brooks is a national treasure and I hope he lives forever.
