These three gems were annouced a while ago... but it's all gone a tad quiet on the special features front. Do we know if there are any special featuers planed? And, are these titles defo coming? - I hope so, as they are the titles I am pining for the most at the moment.

How much does that suck ? Calling it the 50th Anniversary edition and having bugger-all extras ? Are they having a laugh ? WHERE EAGLES DARE gets nothing either ! It makes me maaaaaaaaad!! [IMG]

that is a real shame indeed having no special features.

As long as the transfer for The Thing is as good as can be, I'll be happy.

5th of August is the biggest release day I've ever seen, a veritable klondike of great DVDs: the Warner Horrors; Halloween: SE and more! [IMG] [IMG]

Yes, give me a first class transfer along with the 87 minute version of the film and I'm happy.

Exactly!! This made me angry also. Don't call it an Anniversary Edition unless the title is being treated properly. I'll be picking this title up no matter what, but considering the historical importance of this film on the sci-fi genre, you would think that it warrants at the very least a commentary track and possibly a documentary.

The Image/Turner Home Entertainment Laserdisc had as extras the following:
    -Posters & Lobby Cards
    -Production Photos
    -Pressbook Materials
-Complete text of John W. Campbell's original short story "Who Goes There"

Are these items or others simply unavailable or is WB following the "Paramount Policy" of investing NO $$$$$ at all in extras for "old catalog" titles?

It appears as though they have dropped it, but myself and Randy are not making this title up. It was billed as the 50th Anniversary Edition when the initial announcement was made which led many of us to believe that this would be a souped up Special Edition and it appears that this fell through. Hopefully, I'm wrong and we're going to at least get the extras from the Laserdisc Boxset, but it doesn't look like it.

Once again, this is one of the MOST important Sci-Fi titles of all time along with "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers", "Metropolis", & "Star Wars". It deserves a full out SE. There has been incredible demand for this title whenever a "What catalog titles do you want?" thread is started, and the demand has been on-going since the format launched.

I remember when The Thing was announced as an anniversary title as well. I still think these should be a list price of $14.99 but I guess I'll pick them up anyway.

I would gladly trade the extras on Artisans Invasion of the Body Snatchers for adecent, clean, anamorphic print!

i could care less about stepping thru 8 pages of lobby cards and ad mats, i don't read short stories off the tv or movie screen, and the rest of that stuff is nice, but who really puts that before actually being able to finally watch the film in a preferred format?
