I've using the SoundBlaster Live 5.1 sound card with XP, using the driver updates on their page. Everytime I start up XP, the sound is distorted and I have to use Creative Restore Defaults to correct the sound.
Does anyone have any ideas on to correct this situation?

Have you tried using the drivers that came with your card and then running the XP update from Creative Labs? Also, check your device manager, are there any exclamation marks? The only problem I've had with my Platinum 5.1 and XP (Pro) was the typical VIA motherboard popping noise, that was until I installed the 4.35 VIA drivers.

That's how I installed the sound card. I went to the device manager and noticed that the drivers for the original motherboard audio is still present. Should I remove those drivers? I've tried plugging the speakers into the original computer outputs, but they no longer give me any sound.
Thanks in advance.

First off, disable the on-board audio in the BIOS and then remove them from the device manager.
