I bought a monoRCA to 1/8" adapter from RadioShack and picked up a digital coaxial cable. I installed the SB Live! 5.1 and (think) I have all the settings correct. I selected 5.1 speakers and "only output digital"

I only get sound on the left and right mains, during movies and during testing from the Creative software. My Onkyo HT-S760 receiver picks up the digital coax connection, but its only getting the 2 channels.

I have done some searching and it seems like what is happening is that the signal is being sent already decoded to the receiver, and it just takes it as stereo. Is there any way to disable it from decoding and let my receiver handle it?

    1. What software are you using to play your DVDs?
    2. If you are using the digital out from your SC (sound card) the receiver does the 5.1 decoding.... now if the data coming out of your SC does not have DD/DTS 5.1 data, your receiver will default it to stereo and if your DSP in your receiver is on, it'll decode it as Dolby Pro-Logic.
