Sound United has announced the latest firmware update for Marantz and Denon A/V receivers, many of which relate to immersive audio functionality and differ from model to model.
The update enables DTX:Pro for 13-channel decoding of DTS:X/IMAX DTS:X content, and DTS Neural:X capability has been expanded up to 13 channels. It also allows the Denon AVR-X8500H and Marantz AV8805 to support Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization technology and ‘Front Wide’ speakers for Dolby Surround playback. The Dolby Center Spread functionality will be restored on the 2019 and 2020 AVR models. The firmware updates impact each AVR differently based on channel count and hardware-specific architecture.

Thanks Martin. Good news for more contemporary units but apparently not for mine. I have been completely satisfied with my AV7702mkii up until now but the lack of compatibility with the Audyssey editor app may force an upgrade. Unless Audyssey really steps up their game before I am ready, my next unit will likely be from Anthem.

Both of my units, an AV7703 and SR7012 had updates today. I haven't dug in to see if anything noticeable changed. Of course, neither unit is even capable of driving 13 channels, but I guess maybe I should cycle through the surround modes and see what's there.

After the update I recalibrated the system with the Audyssey MultEQ app. We watched a movie last night and were surprised at how much more the audio was distributed through the room. It really sounded good! I am very happy with this update. I did see a few new modes but I don't use any of them, I stick to the basics - Atmos, Neural X, etc. I tried the Auro 2D for music but didn't care for it.

Oh ya, Sorry. Marantz SR8015 in a 5.2.4 configuration.

I have a Dolby Atmos demo disc that I use to tweak the system and I am very impressed in the improvement of the movie clips. It almost pushes too much to the back now but after a few tweaks it's all dialed in.

Bought the Denon A110 AVR recently but I cannot see DTS X Pro or IMAX enhanced settings. Latest fi4mware version installed. Is there a way to acrivate these. I have a 13.1 system . Cannot see any settings for these on various menu screens.

That's one snazzy piece of gear. I would expect you would find those by cycling through the surround modes. Probably there's a "Surround" button on the remote.

Available options under Surround Parameters will change with the type of signal coming in. You will not see anything for IMAX unless there is an IMAX signal coming in.
