Please forgive this novice -- I'm dwarfed by the wealth of expertise here. Anyway....
I own a Samsung SP-P4251 Plasma TV. I have a home theater system, including a DVD player. My video, from the DVD player, is going directly into the TV (Monster cables into Component 1) and my audio is going from the DVD player, using a coaxial digital cable, into an RCA receiver, and out to a 5.1 sound system. My problem: I notice that the dialog tends to go out of sync periodically. Eventually it gets back in sync, but it's very distracting watching Star Wars - A New Hope, for example, and suddenly feel like you're watching a badly-dubbed foreign film! Please tell me what's happening here and how I can fix it (and I'm praying that this isn't 'common to the plasma TV format' ....I've never read that in my research, and, if it's true, I'd want a refund.
Please contact me ASAP (Lord of the Rings - Return of the King is waiting)!

I know the old Sony 330 DVD player had lipsynch problems, I owned one. If you paused the player and restarted it, the lipsynch disappeared. I heard this was common with other older model Sonys. What model is your DVD player?

Very interesting! As a matter of fact, the DVD player is a
SONY DVP-NS575P. I'm not sure if that's an 'old' model, or if the problem still persists with current models. At any rate, maybe the problem does actually lie in the DVD player. I'll see if I can experiment with other players (if I can get my hands on any) ....or maybe even through a PS2! Thanks for the information!
    Anybody else? - Bert

Until you replace the player, do as Jeff suggests (pause-stop-restart). That works for the time being.
