I have HD cable from Insight in Louisville KY. I have a Moto DCH-6416 HD/DVR STB hook up via HDMI to my Samsung LN40A550 LCD. I get a lot of sound drop outs when watching tv. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm watching a HD program or a SD program. It has happen on Fox while watching Terminator/Sara Conner, on ABC watching Regis & Kelly in HD, Desprate Housewives, & Brothers & Sisters, on CBS, and so on. It's not my LCD because when I play a DVD the sound is fine. Also I never seem to have the sound drop out problem when using my TiVo, which is not a HD TiVo. I have switched out my HDMI cable and it still happens. It also happens on programs I record using the Moto DCH-6416.

Any suggestions? (besides destroying that DCH-6416, which I despise!)
Thanks,

I have the same problem with my Scientific Atlanta HD DVR. The problem can be with the digital audio feed from your local station, from the cable head-end, or with the digital audio output on the cable box. (Which would explain why you don't have the problem with DVD or your SD TiVO.) Lately I've also been getting random image freeze-ups and pixelation, so I'm swapping out the DVR on my lunch hour one day next week. I hope this does it. Anyway, I seriously doubt the problem has anything to do with your connections or your other components. I think it is just tha nature of over-compressed HD/digital cable.

Joe

Joe,
I thank you for your response. This is my third 6416, the first one stopped recording within a month of Insight upgrading me to HD. The second one had to be switched out while the service man was there to replace the first one. It was right out of the box and he couldn't get it work. So he brought in 6416 #3. That's the one I have now and it's so user unfriendly. (specially when you're use to TiVo!) I'm looking into getting Dish HD cause I'm really tired on dealing with Insight cable.
Anyway, thanks again,
