On my directv system the sound is slightly ahead of video. You can hear someone speak and then watch their lips move. What could be the problem. I have a sony dolby digital satelite box connected to a stand alone tivo connected to the sony tv.

I haven't noticed the problem on mine. I have the Sony SAT-A55 ( I think...) DD receiver. I have noticed that audio cuts out for about a second every few minutes on HBO now, though...must be because of Dolby Digital coming through now.

Joe, do you have the audio connecting from the DirecTV box straight to your A/V receiver? If you have it connected that way, and you are watching via TiVo, then the audio won't match the video. TiVo adds a slight delay to the video. If the audio isn't passing through the TiVo then it won't be in sync.
