Sony's new BRAVIA Projector 8, aka VPL-WX6100ES, and Projector 9, aka VPL-WX8100ES Long Throw projectors are scheduled to launch early November, 2024.

I enjoyed watching Sony's two new projectors at their CEDIA Demo rooms and speaking with the engineers and product management.

Sony will be giving us the BRAVIA Projector 8 and Projector 9 Long Throw projectors that were used at CEDIA for me to review and give them my feedback.

How do you feel they compare to the higher end JVCs?

I need more time with Sony's new BRAVIA Projector 9, aka VPL-XW8100ES and BRAVIA Projector 8, aka VPL-XW6100ES.

For now I can say the higher Peak Luminance and lower MLL with the new 2nd generation of the XR SoC for Projector gives the images more depth and detail on these new Sony projectors.

As you know every year I very carefully follow the advancement in digital video display technology and the processing.

What frequently comes to mind is that we have reached the human visual system's image quality capability; then I keep getting impressed with the picture quality enhancements.

Our brain improves the physical images to look more real to life, but Sony's new BRAVIA Projector 9 and BRAVIA Projector 8 are very big upgrades in all elements of image quality, e.g., peak and minimum luminance levels, with deep blacks enhanced, and the new 2nd generation of the XR processor for Projector to decode frame by frame perfectly following and rendering the full EOTF PQ.
