I don't know what the model number is but I know a guy that wants to sell his 1 year old SONY WEGA XBR for $1200. Its a 36".. I currently have a Toshiba 36" would it be that much better? Seems like a real good deal. I'm mostly interested because it might do the squeeze trick. anyone know?

Is it an HD ready set? If it is not just keep your current set.

If it's an xbr400 it would be a decent deal...I wouldn't buy it sight-unseen however...

You'll definately want to look for the brightness level issue (right side darker than left) and check for any geometry issues.

If it is any model older than the xbr400, I would stay away from it (a new xbr450 is 1800-2200 depending on retailer).

Otherwise, it sounds like a decent deal...and yes, the xbr's are HD ready (though some will argue their not TRUE HDTV).

    Cheers,

    Rich

PS, I own an xbr400 with minor brightness issues...
