I just got a Sony Wega 27" flat screen. In widescreen mode when viewing a DVD, the height of the picture is a bit shorter than in regular mode. Does anyone else have this problem?

An overscan adjustment (hor. size, vert. size) may fix this.
Unfortunately for some TV sets there is only one overscan setting that affects all aspect ratio modes. If so, you will always have the disparity when quickly switching back and forth between 4:3 and 16:9. Fortunately, unless you are fidgeting and tweaking and doing A/B comparisons, you probably won't notice anything wrong with the picture using a single compromise setting.
If you have 16:9 mode on the TV, leave the DVD player in 16:9 mode. There is no further need to view a 16:9 enhanced (anamorphic) movie in regular (4:3 mode) on your TV.

It's worth noting that many have observed an "oversqueezing" phenomenon on some WEGAs.

I guess I'll search for past threads regarding this oversqueezing problem. Thanks.
