I am looking at two Flagship ( Of their time ) AV receivers. I want a bit of an older high end AV receiver and care more about build quality and amplification than bells and whistles, and i don't need HDMI switching. I don't have the room for separates either. I have always loved Sony ES gear and Pioneer Elite. Which one of these two receivers would be the better choice? I know the Sony STR-DA7ES had a MSRP of $2300, and the Pioneer VSX-59txi had a MSRP of $4500, so almost twice as much. but Is the Pioneer twice the receiver of the Sony? The Pioneer is THX Ultra 2 certified and Sony never THX certified any of their receivers, probably because Sony owns it's own mastering studios, and i don't know if THX really means that much anyway. So all in all, which would be your choice for home theater use?
