Pre-orders are sold out at every major retailer in Canada. Three up for sale on Amazon.ca. 1800 Canadian plus shipping. Bloody scalpers. At that price a person might as well just buy a PC.

If only there was a way to buy one in the next 2 weeks.

Honestly, the best news to come from the PS5 unboxing stuff is that the pack-in game is fun.

At launch I would start making the rounds at Wal-Mart. At the PS4 launch Wal-Mart was the best store for finding them even though they impossibly hard to find. More so than Target (which is a good back up).

Luckily, I'm like 10 minutes from a Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and GameStop...and about 15-20 minutes from a second one of each of those. And a BJ's.

Wait, Astro Playroom is just a regular game, and not a VR followup to "Astrobot: Rescue Mission"?

Well, at least looks like they kept the killer-earworm theme from the original: :drum:

That's correct. Just like The Playroom was the pack in game for the PS4. Maybe it will get a vr upgrade later, but so far no PS5 exclusive VR games have been announced.

Besides the adapter for PSVR, Sony has said nothing about any future VR plans on PS5. I'm not surprised. It's great that they're supporting PSVR for now and that backward compatibility works but they shouldn't push another new $300-400 VR headset right out of the gate alongside the $400-500 console.

Price-wise, that would be a mistake. (As Blu3D reminded us, the key to selling a new technology is to give us a sample for free...)
Although one of the impeti for making a PS5 at all--apart from telling insatiably persecution-complexed gamers "Don't worry, there'll be something even BETTER!" almost the minute the PS4 came out--was making a new VR system more built-in, since it was a clunky last-minute add-on to the PS4, and hoping an easier hookup will make the technology more approachable for new gamers.

They've reportedly designed a newer headset system with fewer wire connections, which is a good sign, as the games are only now just starting to look appealing and designers are getting the hang of it.
(Although that new Hatsune Miku rhythm game is an aerobic workout, never mind the Space Channel 5 reboot. )

What the hell? This initial games lineup feels like it is aimed at kids with Nintendo Switches. How many kids are going to spend 500 to 700 dollars on a gaming console? And their parents are most likely going to balk at those prices too.

On another point. How is the BC of the PS5 comparing to XBOX One X? People had were majorly anticipating that the PS5 would have extensive BC to earlier generations of PS games, but it looks like the XBOX 1 X has them beat in that department.

A November PS+ game pack for a console that will be nigh on impossible to get in November. What a bonus.
