    Hi folks,
I'm picking up the Sony 36 inch HD (KV-36XBR800)(used), and looking for the right DVD Player to match to it.
First, I currently have SONY NS315 (pretty recent, non-progressive low end player).
I can't spend a lot after buying the TV (well not for 6 months or so), so I figure I have some options
    1) Keep current player and depend on the TV to handle the cleanup
    2) Pick up ultra cheap progressive

The de-interlacing in the 36XBR800 is quite good. We use a Panasonic RP82 DVD player and I somewhat prefer its picture to what we had with our previous RV26 but it's a small difference. My wife doesn't notice any difference at all between letting the TV and the player do the de-interlacing.

I wouldd think that a super-el-cheapo progressive-scan player could possibly not do as good a job as the 36XBR800 will do for you. If your current player is reliable I'd not replace it unless it was with a progressive-scan one per se unless you find a good-quality one you like.

Interesting, so just hanging onto my player for now may not be a mistake!
