Hello,

I was watching TV last night, when all of a sudden, I just heard this "zzzzzzzzzzzt" noise and then the TV turned off.

Upon trying to turn back on this morning, the little standby LED blinks 4 times in succession, then pauses, then blinks 4 times, etc, etc.

I have a service appt. set up for next week. Any techies out there know what the problem is based on these symptoms.

Anyone have any idea what it costs to fix these things?

Thanks

From the service manual of the KP-43ht20 which is your set's Hi-Def cousin.

4 blinks symptoms could be:

Has entered standby state after horizontal raster.

Vertical deflection pulse has stopped.

Power line is shorted, or power supply has stopped.

Causes:

Either the IC8003 on the A board is faulty or +-15v is not supplied on the D board.

It doesn't sound like something you can fix on your own...

Power supply issues were my first thoughts. And this would be neither user-fixable nor inexpensive. How old is the set?

This set is less than 2 years old.

Was manufactured in April of 2000. I got it about 2-3 months after that.

Thanks
