hey that's not too bad of a price, for a new technology anyway.

ATAPI means IDE IIRC. Wish everyone would just go SATA, those wide 80-pin cables are a pita. They gather dust, create clutter, and can block airflow.

Bassackwards don't you think. This whole copy protection situation has completely turned "normal" hardware progression on its head. Burners first - Would never have thought it 2 years ago. The likelyhood of these first burners being able to actually play movies at some point in the future is highly suspect.

Agreed, SATA cables are so much better for airflow than either the Wide or the round IDE cables.

Annoucements like these really make me feel good about my decision to sit back and let these guys duke it out before taking the plunge.

i believe there are currently 2 sata DVD burner on the market, one from samsung and one from plextor. the problem is that some of the older SATA controllers don't support it very well. i dunno about the new ones. i haven't really tried it myself. got 2many ide DVD burners lying around.
