I placed a preorder for the HS10 in mid November from the closest dealer in my area (3 hour drive). It is now looking like they won't be in before the end of the year.

Does anyone know of a dealer, that's willing to ship, that has them in-stock?

    Thanks.

What is the closest major city to your area?

    Neil,

The closest major city is Salt Lake City. I have family in Seattle -- so that can be considered close as well.

    Michael,

I fired off an email to your source. I recognize you from the "other forum" that doesn't allow this type of discussion. I enjoyed checking out your site.

I've got my parkland screen already to go. If I had to do it over again (and could permantly mount it) I'd go with painted MDF.

Paul: Bit off topic, but why painted MDF?

Michael: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Very encouraging; good site!

I have a question about a painted MDF DIY screen. What method would you use to join the seams. I am assuming that you cannot get MDF at 45" x 80" and I am also assuming you would use the thinner stuff as a screen this size would be fairly heavy.

I want to start compiling a list of sony VPL-HS10 dealers and their pricing. Here's a list of what I've gathered so far:
    ***************************************
    Yahoo shopping:
    DealzNet.com - $2276.94
    Hyp Audio - HypAudio.com - $2,288.44
    Prices Rite - PricesRite.com - $2294.19
These dealers do not allow returns, exchanges, credits, or anything. They claim that they are able to ship in 2 -3 days.
    ****************************************
Oade Bros. Audio - oade.com - $2300 (eta: special order couple weeks)
    J & R - JandR.com - $2499.88 (eta: couple weeks)
    One Call - onecall.com - $2500.00 (eta: 1 months)
    LetsGoDigital Superstore - lgdsuperstore.com - $2599.88
    NOAV.com Approx $2500
    www.CDW.com $2300 (eta: 2 -3 weeks)
    *****************************************
That's all I have for now. It seems that all of these dealers do not have any hs-10's at the moment and it looks to be at least a two week wait minimum.
I'd appreciate any other additional dealers and/or pricing.
Please remember not all of these are authorized dealers so check each dealers return policies, warranties, etc... and get the details before you buy. Buy at your own risk.

I ordered from CDW on 11/26. I was told the projector would ship on Dec. 2. It didn't, and I didn't get any new info until this past Wednesday, when the CDW website went from 1-2 weeks availability to 4-6 days. I checked with my sales rep, and he said they were due in that day--12/11. They didn't come in, and now the website is saying 1-2 weeks again.

I think you can get big sheets of MDF. My brother-in-law used to work in a university cabinet shop, and they had it all of the time.

The parkland plastic has a great surface, but if you're going to paint it, the surface is then no different than painting a sheet of MDF. I've painted a lot of walls, and I decided to use a short-nap roller.

I went to Home Depot and purchased a quart of Glidden primer and a quart of flat interior wall paint. I had a print-out of the shade of gray I wanted. The guy mixing the paint ended up using one drop of black in the quart to get the shade of gray I wanted. We put a dab on the paper next to the gray swatch I brought in, and it was a close match. We tried 2 drops of black, and the shade was too dark. He didn't charge me for that quart. Grays, if selected from a swatch at the paint store, have other colors mixed in to achieve the sample color. I specifically requested that only black be used to get the shade of gray I wanted. Any color would change, although only slightly, the color balance of the image reflected from the screen.

I currently live in an apartment and want the portability of the parkland screen. If I owned my own home I would go with a permenantly mounted MDF screen. It would be heavy, but if mounted to the wall properly, it wouldn't be an issue.

I forgot to mention -- after painting the screen gray it still looks white unless you put a white piece of paper up on it for comparison.

I also got mine from NOAV. Good service, he even checked for dead/stuck pixels before shipping.

I've been having bad luck with noav. I call and they tell me to email. I email and no answers. I went along with cdw because they seem to have the lowest price and are authorized dealers. I'm paying $2300. But don't know when I'll be getting it. Realistically January???

Anyone else have other places to purchase the hs-10 please post.

I merged two threads into one to deal with getting this high demand, low availability projector.

    Mike,
I'm not having any luck with your website.
I can only click the link to DTSonline...

Robert; I just checked it out and it seemed fine. Once it opens you should be able to select the Sony HS10 link.
Today I finally got around to mounting my projector. It was a DIY project which I'm very satisfied with. It is fully adjustable and can be very easily dismounted.

The page isn't working for me either. It won't load
the "buttons" on the left, and there are no links in
    the area.

I found the problem. The site requires Java
Virtual Machine. That file is no longer linked
at Microsoft, so you have to download and install
it from the Sun Java site. Works fine now!
