    Look at the weight on the 36. It weighs twice that of the 42.
    I would really take that into consideration if you ever have to move
    it yourself.
    FWIW I got the KDF50WE655 at CC last weekend for the price of the 42 inch.
    Made the price of the stand next to nothing.

    I vote for the added screen size, and the modern technology in this case.

    Unless you just particularly love CRT Direct View, for those people, only CRT direct view will do period in my experiences.

    no contest....a direct view cannot be beat!!!

    I have seen both and own a 36XBR800 and the 42" cannot come close at all to the direct view. I did see a good price on the 42" at tweeter. a floor model for $1400

    10ft is perfect for a direct view.

    Ralph B would have to be one of those CRT Direct View lovers.


    I don't like them as well, truth be told. I'd even much prefer a 2 gun CRT RPTV over them. Even raw resolution is decidedly lower with them.

    right on john....

    in the real world a direct view cannot be beat!!! you would have to be blind not to agree. technically even , it just cannot be beat. period. argue if you want but that just means your a RPTV lover...lol
