I currently have the basic Sony 300 cd changer. I have probably another 4 or 500 cd's plus dvd's I'd like to file for convenience. I realize these multi-units don't provide audio/videophile performance, but I don't have that system or room either.

I found a place online to get this new Sony ES version for about $550.

Is it worth it or am I going to be completely wasting my money?

Would the standard, lower cost Sony 400 dvd multi unit be just as good?

I don't have any sort of stellar TV yet, but am planning on an Optoma 50" DLP later this year. I'm running a Rotel and Axioms for my audio.

    Thanks.

I saw the specs on the 2 changers and the ES specs are nothing to laugh at; right up there with the best of them.
Where did you see that price, if you don't mind me asking?

It's an online site that I'll have to look up again.

I have a feeling that it might be a 'factory repaired' item, so if that's the case I'll make sure to get a good warranty in writing first.
