Sony DVD player help (1 Viewer)

My friend is borrowing my Sony DVD player, and according to him. Every time he watches a movie the screen goes bright then dark and vice versa. I know that the DVD player is in good working condition. His tv is an old RCA tv(not sure if this matters). Any suggestion to fix this? Thanks

Sounds like he might be routing the DVD player through his VCR. If this is the case, the Macrovision copy protection would cause this video problem. He should try to run the DVD through a receiver or direct to the TV, might require an RF converter if the TV only has a coax in like my old RCA.

Sounds like the same problem a friend of mine had when he got his first DVD player. He had an old TV so he had to run the DVD player through the VCR which produced the same problem that you described. A new TV wasn't in the budget at the time so he bought a video stabilizer which corrected the problem.
