Both are means of converting 50 Hz to 100 Hz. Philips DNM uses some motion anticipation. On American sets, DRC converts 480i to 960i, using pattern matching to interpolate for the rescaling, and I guess European/Asian DRC is similar. In a blind taste test, 70% of Indians picked Philips DNM over Sony DRC and Samsung Plano.
