hello-

I've had my DA5ES for about 2 Months now and quite frankly, it's been Excellent! I have noticed something new (A concern really). When I am watching a DTS DVD or Even DD It works Great, but when I switch to TV Viewing and Switch BACK to DVD it makes this HORRIBLE Screeching/Ticking almost PINK NOISE but louder and Im sure damaging sound.

Is there someting wrong with the Receiver? or Is it the DVD Player? Or is it the Wire?

Im lost.

Please help.

Thanks
Angelo

Is all video running through receiver? What connection dvd to receiver and tv to receiver(opt, coax, etc) and are you specifeing connections on the receiver?

Dan-

The DVD Video is connected to the Receiver and the TV is the same thing. The Connection is done thru S-video (Monster) for the Satelite and Components (DIY Canare)for the DVD.

The Audio connects are Optical (Monster Cable) from the DVD to the Receiver and the TV utilizes the regular red/white RCA's.

This does not happen ALL the time but for the past week, it has happened 2X thats why i'm a little concerned.

Angelo,

I had this problem with an older Sony receiver. Make sure that for each source (TV, DVD, CD etc) you have manually set the input type you're using (be it optical, coaxial, analog etc) instead of "auto". That should hopefully fix it.

Cheers,
Mal

Angelo, that's where I was going too. I had similar issues until I specified optical only on dvd and sat, and analog only on tv(local). I have since had no problems. This has also solved 1st second audio dropout when playing Cd's on my dvd player.:D
This receiver has alot of fiddle factor and the manual could have been a little more specific on many areas.
In any event, I would'nt trade this beast for anything short of free separates.:D
